Zheng Zhang
Dr. Zheng Zhang’s research interests include literacy and biliteracy curriculum and pedagogy, curriculum studies of transnational education, English academic writing, and cross-border teacher education undergirded by new media literacies. Zhang has been involved in literacy research for nearly 20 years covering expansive areas such as academic literacies, biliteracy learning, and collaborative digital storytelling in virtual spaces. Zhang has served as the co-editor of the Canadian journal of Language & Literacy since 2017. She was the PI on three SSHRC-funded projects and other complementary research on asset- and ethics-oriented literacy curriculum and pedagogies: Composing stories across the borders: Promoting equity through digital storytelling with biliteracy curricula (SSHRC Insight Grant, 2021-2023; Heydon as the Co-applicant), Building on assets: A netnography of a cross-border, online biliteracy curriculum (SSHRC Partnership Engage Grant, 2018-2019), and A multiple case study of literacy curricula in Canadian transnational education programs in China (SSHRC Insight Development Grant, 2016-2018; Heydon as the Co-applicant). Twenty of Zhang’s papers were published in international journals, six of which were published in journals with the highest impact factors in teacher education and curriculum studies.
